The walk closely follows the Ovens River with its beautiful clearwater and rounded stones bottom. Beginning on the southern side of the ovens River the track heads downstream crossing a number of deep cuttings made by miners to remove excess water from their workings and a footbridge which gives access to the northern bank a short distance down the track. One can then return to the starting point or continue on for the full walk.
Autumn colours in Bright and surrounding districts are truly spectacular with many people making an annual pilgrimage to the district to enjoy the spectacle. I can recall many pleasant hours being spent with the family floating down the river on air mattresses and inner tubes admiring the scenery as we went.
