A Friendly Wave. Oil on canvas 90 x 60 cm completed in 1993. This was my first real train painting and proved to be enormously popular, the image being used on wallhangings, clocks, biscuit tins, wall plaques and jigsaw puzzles. The double-header led by the last in the class 3675 is making hard work of the Tumulla Bank. Hauling a mixed goods, the train is moving slowly enough for the two young train spotters to get a good look at a friendly wave from the driver.
